Editing #6

As we had finished the rough cut of the main body of the video we focused on the montage at the end of the video today. Whilst we were editing the main body of the music video we were constantly finding shots that we though would be good in the montage. The lyrics in the montage are very repetitive, we thought that we would convey this in the shots but not in a uniform manor but to have similar shots. The montage was to be collated shots of the music video that would be summed up in those 15 seconds; looking back at the narrative. We had the line 'life happens' as a performance from the artist with shots from the music video incorporated in between. This was to make the montage interesting and constantly changing.

Editing #5

Today we had done our rough cut!! (minus the montage at the end of the video) We had filled in any of the gaps on the timeline with footage that we filtered through. After having a full 2min 30sec of footage to watch, all three of us looked back on the rough cut to get the sync of the music/ rhythm precise. Cutting shots to make them perfectly sync to our liking has been more difficult that expected, for me personally. All members of the group see/feel differently in terms of when shots should be cut, by a second or two. I like that fact that we all see different things when looking at the video as one of us can make apparent what others are not able to initially see.

Editying #4

In this editing session we were looking for certain footage that we would be able to put into parts of the song. Once having done this, we were trying to edit the shots we had chosen to the right duration of time which feels right to the song. With choosing the different footage to go into parts of the song there were some creative disagreements within the group but we were able to overcome this disagreements through listening and compromising with each other. This is one part of the reasons that I love the group that i am in because we all have certain visions, which usually are in sync, but we are all able to put forward good ideas to how the shots should look. 

Editing #3

When we begin editing we focus on certain verses of the song and worked through the footage one verse at a time. We always looked back at the annotated lyrics and the animatic to see what the original idea was for that part. We were alternatively looking at our video back to our animatic, there are certain parts of the song that it is clear to see we had stuck to them shots that were on our storyboard. We may have got the same types of shots in many different variations but we sometimes ended up putting the shots in different places on the timeline. This was because we would discovered other shots when looking through footage that would be better suited to that part of the song or flow better in the video.

Editing #2

In this editing session we began choosing the shots of both Malory and Matt today (the homevideo/flashback). This was very exciting as this were the parts of the footage that we loved as the locations was good and we had a variety of shots. I feel like everyone in the group had the same thoughts on what shots would look best in these parts. The fact that we had a lots of extra shots to choose from made the decision slightly difficult as we were able to put lots of different shots in that same place with all of them looking good in there own way. The process of choosing what shot was a little bit long as we would filter through a few shots but once looking at a them we felt that we had put the best shot suited in place. Even though the process look longer than expected we were able to discover other shots along the way that we thought would look good in other places of the video.    

Edting #1

Day one of editing...we had a plan where to start as we tried to organize all the shots we had taken into different folders; making them easier to find and access. We firstly entered and downloaded the song onto the timeline, trying to find the best qualilty and full version of the song. We began editing with looking at our storyboard and animatic looking at the shots we wanted to begin the video with. After finding and putting these on the timeline we added shots that we felt made the beginning better. These were aspects such as, distinctively showing the artists face for the audience to recognize. We continued to edit the beginning of the song until we got the the part to choose shots of the couple together (the homevideo footage/flashback). This is where we needed to begin to choose out of a variety of possible shots.
